    Tab Benoit, Blues Musician and Environmental Activist, talks about nesting coastal waterbirds in Louisiana. Waterbirds nest on islands each year from February through August. Getting too close to nesting islands can cause adults to fly off their nests, leaving eggs and chicks vulnerable to the hot sun and predators. Next time you're out on the water, remember to Fish, Swim, and Play from 50 Yards Away from nesting birds on islands!

This person will be domiciled in the BTNEP office on the Nicholls State University campus. The BTNEP Office Coordinator serves as the administrative assistant to the Program Director and the Deputy Director and is usually the first contact between the Program Office, the general public, and other local, state, national and international officials.

  • WETLANDS PROGRAM REVITALIZES WEB PRESENCE

    On Thursday evening, a new website highlighting efforts to restore Louisiana’s vanishing coast was unveiled. As many settled in for an evening of social networking, the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP) went live with their completely new internet identity at www.BTNEP.org. The new website repackages many of BTNEP’s most popular educational resources and includes a new, easy to navigate site, making an education on coastal Louisiana as accessible as ever.
